climate change adaptation and mitigation
climate change adaptation and mitigation

The action is part of the “Climate Change” contest and is aimed at students and teachers from 30 schools participating in the project.
On the 1st of October 2015, Clima@EduMedia will open the contest “Climate Change”, in which schools and inter-school groups involved in the project can participate.
The goal of the contest is to lead students and teachers to reflect on the importance of climate change adaptation and mitigation, challenging them to think of concrete measures to implement in their schools.
In summary, “students and teachers are intended to identify, in their schools, ways of dealing with the negative consequences of climate change that can no longer be avoided and/ or seek to explore opportunities based on their current situation. All this in terms of adaptation”, claims José Azevedo, coordinator of the Clima@EduMedia project. Moreover, “we want the schools to think of innovative ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are casted into the atmosphere, thus contributing to the mitigation of the causes of climate change”, he adds.
Educational institutions can submit their ideas according to three categories: Adaptation; Mitigation and Climate Change, with the latter intended to proposals that combine, in a coordinated way, adaptation and mitigation measures.
Schools with the best ideas will receive a cash prize - Adaptation (€30,000); Mitigation (€30,000) and Climate Change (€40,000) - which will be allocated to the implementation of the respective proposal in the selected school.
The page of the Contest on this website offers detailed information on the subject, as well as registration guidelines for schools participating on the project.
