"Climate Change" Contest:
Deadline extended
Deadline extended
Published on September 28th 2015
The deadline for applications to the “Climate Change” contest has been extended until 30 December 2015. The competition is for students and teachers from 30 schools participating in the project Clima@EduMedia.
Since 1 October, and until 30 December of the present year, schools and inter-school groups that are part of the Clima@EduMedia project can submit their applications “Climate Change” contest.
The aim of the competition is to make both students and teachers aware of the importance of climate change adaptation and mitigation, challenging them to think of concrete measures to implement in their school.
Basically, “its goal is to lead students and teachers to identify, in their schools, ways of dealing with the negative consequences of climate change that can no longer be avoided and/or explore the opportunities of the situation they are already in. This is for adaptation”, said José Azevedo, coordinator of Clima@EduMedia. Also, “we want schools to think of innovative ways to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases cast into the atmosphere, thus contributing to the mitigation of the causes of climate change”, he further notes.
Educational institutions can submit ideas in three categories: Adaptation; Mitigation and Climate Change, with the latter intended to proposals that combine, in a coordinated way, adaptation and mitigation measures.
The schools with the best ideas will receive a cash prize - Adaptation (€30,000); Mitigation (€30,000) and Climate Change (€40,000) - which will be allocated to the implementation of the respective proposal in school.
The page of the Contest on this website offers detailed information about it and guidelines for project schools to submit their application.
